I haven't played for a while but the only way I remember is making treeko your starter and evolving it , or In the dungeon Mystifying forest or Mystery jungle there should be Grovyle try and befriend it that is how I got Grovyle. you don't see him again in darkness/time but in pmd3 you do!!Pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky.when dialga is beaten your starter Pokemon diasappears but then dialga says that he give your partner the FUTURE.so he gives your starter Pokemon back and all the Pokemon of the future are back again too but:dusknoir becomes good but i think the sableye become bad,dialga is not primal(bad).that is why pmd3 (Pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky was made with this edition of Pokemon mystery a new adventure starts and shows what became the future Pokemon and more.so if you want to learn more buy pmd3 or if you want Pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky!!

Anyways you eventually see them and pick them up at certain places, with you, your partner Pokemon,and grovyle [''the thief'']By the way grovyle isn't really a thief,everyone in treasure town thinks he is but he's just trying to save the universe from he's foe dusknoir.The reason why he's needs the time gears,is because he wants to bring them to temporal tower[where you find dialgia].But evenually,he's get thrown into the future[not really thrown but pushed]with dusknoir.And if you have Pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky you can be them and see what happens in the future...but unfortanitly i don't know what happens to them because i don't have the game...i only have explorers of time,my sister has Pokemon explorers of darkness, and im planning on getting explorers of sky for Christmas... You can't get him to join you... BUT... in the end, when you beat primal dialga, you will unlock the final special episode you can play the game as him. The whole gang'll be there, sableye, primal dialga, spiritomb, dusknoir, celebi and Grovyle. If you aren't talking about the one who was your friend when you were human, then there's a grovyle in mystery jungle. look at serribi.net (sorry if I misspelled it)
