When Romeo finds out that Juliet is 'Dead' he goes to see her in her tomb, and as Paris is there, he tries to stop him from seeing her, thus Romeo kills him.

Romeo was attacking in self defense as Paris though Juliet "killed" herself because Romeo killed Tybalt.

Because Paris wouldn't let Romeo see Juliet, which made Romeo mad so he stabbed Paris knowing he was going to kill himself any way.
