In order to blast away the wall, you first have to get into the cannon (theres only one so you should know what i mean). then aim at the top corner of the wall that is closest to the cannon and shoot Mario into it to reveal the star. in order to get the star, either shoot Mario into it or go up and around and grab it from the upper ledge.

You must use Hoo to get to the floating island containing the cages star. When Hoo is startled from the tree and you hitch a ride you must time you release to just before the floating islands with the red coins to land on the stars island. This can be difficult but as long as you land on the fortress you can keep trying without starting the level.

I am glad i am not the only one who knows that. At the point with the rolling whomp thingies, there is a door in the giant pit. However, it is floating, and you cannot reach it. Use the block to get back to where you came from.
