In The Sims 3 I can't hear the music coming out of the stereo I can see the musical notes coming out but I cant hear the music however loud it is can anybody help?

If you can hear everything else in the game, you may have to check the stereo. Zoom in close, sometimes being in a different room makes it quiet and you are unable to hear it.
But you can select the stereo and hopefully an option to adjust the volume is there along with selecting a station. If not, you may want to pause and check your audio options. Hope this help!
