Rosalie was eighteen in 1933 during the Great Depression in America. However, her father was a wealthy banker and they were seemingly unaffected by America's troubles. Rosalie was set to marry a young man named Royce King II who was following his father into banking. Days before her wedding, Rosalie went to visit one of her close friends Vera. Vera had married a simple carpenter but there was real love in her relationship and she had a beautiful son with black curly hair. Rosalie was jealous for one of the first times in her life because of Vera's little boy. As Rosalie walked home from Vera's at night, she ran into Royce and some of his friends. They were extremely drunk. They beat and presumably raped her, then left her to die on the street. Carlisle smelled the blood and took her to be turned into a vampire. When she saw Emmett, he was being mauled by a bear. She saved him and brought him to Carlisle because he reminded her of Vera's son, Henry. Rosalie is not particularly fond of Bella because she thinks that Bella is throwing her life away to become a vampire. Bella has everything that Rosalie wants and she envies her mortal existence. EDIT: Rosalie Hale was born in 1915. She belongs to the Cullen family with her husband Emmett, her brothers Jasper and Edward, her sister Alice, and her parents Carlisle and Esme. The Cullens are a family of good vampires who try to blend in to the humans. They call them selves "vegetarians" because they will not drink human blood, only animal blood.
