on an average of 2,500 to 5,500 dollars, the cheapest route would be to purchase a good used motor and have that installed. if you have plenty of money have it rebuilt
Brake pads on a 1997 Toyota Celica are changed by removing the wheels, unbolting the calipers, and removing the old pads from the calipers. The caliper piston must be pushed in before the new pads can be installed.
Which engine?? 5SFE or the Turboed 3S-GTE?
You have to replace the piston rings and/ or the piston. Once you take the cylinder off, you should make sure nothing falls into the bottom end of the engine. If you are not familiar with this, then you should consult a mechanic.
replancing a timing chain, specially in a time where engines come out more complicated every year, is someting I don't recomend doing by yourself unless you got a knowledgeable mechanic by yourside. I have seen this type of work done and the trick comes when the piston fire order must be set. A mechanic uses a special light for this purposes or a specially designed trick that works for him kept as the must precious secret. Maybe the Toyota corporation has taugh their mechanic the way this is done with just settting the belt in place with wichever piston goes on top first.
Almost certainly. The timing belt being damaged or broken can cause a number of different problems. I know in my 86 celica sx the result of a faulty/ old timing belt was a piston snapping off at the control rod, it was warped and bent because of wrong timing. i suggest if u have a broken/old/damaged timing belt you do not drive it till u get it replaced. Also see your mechanic for more advice
You have a brake line to the calipers that is collapsing. A mechanic will tell you which side it is by the direction it is pulling to. Caliper Piston binding on that side
most auto mechanic preferred .002 clearance from piston skirt to sleeve
A home mechanic could do this for less than $1000 but he would be skipping many performance and reliability repairs as he has the engine apart.
Toyota changed piston size in engine. It is shorter and creates wear on piston rings.
Remove engine, disassemble, replace piston, re-assemble engine and install. Good times!
There is not a lot of information to go by in your question. There are many reasons why an engine might lock up - - Ran with no oil - Ran over heating - Timing chain broke / piston damage - Piston damage in general And more. Have the truck towed to a qualified mechanic and have him tell you what's wrong.
It is just about the hardest most difficult part of an engine to replace. The engine has to come out. The head has to be taken off. The rod of the piston has to be disconnected from the crankshaft. the top of the cylinder has to have a ridge reamer operated on it to get the piston out.
