The "twist" in a twisted pair helps to prevent induced voltage. if the wires are straight and parallel the wires will get charged with voltage much like a transformer gets charged by the forces running parallel to it on the other side of the core. As far as its affect on radio transmissions. Radio frecuencies are resonant at different lengths. For example 144Mhz is resonant at 2meters or at fractions of the same. 28mhz is resonant at 11meters A quarter wave at 2meters is 19.1 inches. a quarter wave at 11meters is 8.5 feet. By having a twist in the wire you would be nullifying the possibility of induction because the plus and minus poles would be crossing each other at a rate much closer than the resonant lenght of the nearby transmitter. Interference used to be much greater in the old days when the telephone company used two pair straight wiring( red,green,yellow, black) to wire houses. I hope this helped to answer your question. Ex.
