The best place for a thesis statement is at the end of the introduction, if any. It should be in the first paragraph. It's important to precise that that first paragraph has to be the introduction; in that way, nobody should be confusing because we also have the first paragraph of the body.

A thesis is an idea you want to prove. For example: Dogs are truly mans best friend. This is a thesis because it is something you want prove. You can prove thesises by polling people, using research, or just use one of your own ideas to prove you're thesis. ESSAYS are actually pretty fun when you think about it. Have fun :)

A thesis can be inserted anywhere in an essay. As long as you know how to make the piece flow with it. In high school, teachers prefer for the essay to be in your introduction, either at the beginning or end of the first paragraph.
