Yes. Today a carpenter is a person who works on a building site working with the wooden parts of the building 9the joists, stairs, window frames, floorboards and so on. Today a person who makes furniture and smaller items is usually called a joiner. However, in Jesus' day, the carpenter did the lot - making firniture and wooden construction parts for buildings, wheels for carts and so on. This was Joseph's profession and he would have passed it on to Jesus.
