i believe they stayed neutral because they didnt want to get into war if they didnt want to. think of all the time, money and lives it could cost America just to save another countrys butt so until they brought us into it we didnt budge...

∙ 15y agoThere was no reason NOT to favor neutrality. Favoring neutrality meant that they could, ideally, navigate on the seas and go anywhere they wanted without fear of being caught in the crossfire of the war. No one would want to mess with them if they didn't mess with the other people.
