Well Showmanship is judged on how you look and how your horse looks. Halter is judged on conformation.

What is bridle path western pleasure?

Well a bridle path is located behind the ears of a horse and is shaved for a neater look and so the halter or bridle fits better. Western Pleasure is a show class that is judged mostly on the horse. You also ride the horse in this class.

What are the rules for horse halter class?

It depends on what type of show. Breed shows have their own rules and guidelines. Quarter Horses, Paints, and Appaloosas are very similar. These breeds will provide you with the rule book but there could be a small fee. You may also have to have a registered horse to show in breed shows. Arabians have full and half Arab classes but you must have your horse registered to this breed also. For non registered horses open shows provide the same fun for all breeds. The organization running the open show will have their own rules or may go by state rules. Either way plan ahead and get a rule book. Halter can be a fun class if you know the ropes. Grooming and presentation of the horse and handler will make or break the class. You and your horse must be turned out perfectly. You need to know where to stand and move out of the judge's way as he inspects your horse. He may ask you to trot, pivot and back your horse and it must look smooth and flawless. If you have a friend or know somebody that can help you and give a little coaching it would be wonderful. At some tack shops and western stores they sell or rent instruction videos that may be a good investment. These videos are usually made by professional trainers and judges and are a good sourse of information.

What size of halter would fit your 14.2 Morgan quarter cross horse?

Unless he has an extremly large or small head a halter for an 800 lb. horse will most likely fit fine. If he has a smaller head you can try an Arabian size or a Cob size. The Arabian may have narrower straps so you may like the look of the Cob size better.

What will a judge be looking for in the best condition and turnout class at horse shows?

What should you do if your horse runs away?

well most of the time your horse shouldnt run away... but if he/she spooks while you werent holdding the reins(rolling your sturips, tightning the girth, etc) they might run away... it will probably go to the nearest field of grass and eat and if it does , just go up to it, approach it calmy, and take care of it from there. also if it runs away and it doesnt have anything on (not halter, bridle) just grab any horses halter, the closest one you see and quickly, but calmy, go get your horse. if your nervous, your horse can feel it and they will probably just spook and get away again... hope i helpped!

What do you need to show a standardbred in hand and ridden in nz?

Depends on what class you are entering it in! If you are entering your Standardbred in a hunter class, for example, you will need a very plain hunter bridle- no flashy browbands! In most English classes it is considered standard to braid the mane, and either pull or braid the tail. If you are showing the horse in a Western class though, you will probably want to leave the mane unbraided, but its a good idea to pull it just to make it look neater. In terms of tack, I would really go by what class you are entering. For most English classes, a basic snaffle bridle, all-purpose saddle and clean, nice looking saddleblanket are common. Check with the show organiser whether breastplates and martingales are allowed for the class you want to enter. In-hand English is a bit of a grey area, it really depends on your horses look. For a Standardbred with a very fine, thoroughbred type head, a rolled leather show halter can look very appealing, but for a Standardbred with a heavy head or 'Roman' nose, a thicker halter (an undecorated western for example) will look better. Once again, check with the show organiser if there is particular tack you need for your breed class. If you are showing in Western classes then I would recommend buying a western halter. For events under saddle, you will need a Western or Australian saddle. A Navajo saddleblanket can look very nice in Western classes, and you can get different colours to match to your tack. the grooming standards for Western are quite different from English. The mane is generally left unbraided, but pulled and smoothed down with hair gel, and the tail is usually pulled but unbraided. I would recommend trimming the tail to just under the hocks, for a neater line, but it really depends on what will flatter your individual horse. I cannot stress enough though, that it depends on what class you want to go into! Generally speaking you will need to clip a bridle path, but I'm unsure whether this is needed for all Western classes. If you put effort into washing your horse, braiding/pulling and helping him look his smartest with hoof lacquer and a little gloss, then you will be well on your way to having a show winner!
