A network security consultant's job is to analyze the possible security risks displayed by the hiring company's computer network. They report on risks discovered, advise as to the severity of these risks, and determine an appropriate plan of action to minimize or eliminate threats to a network's smooth and safe operation.

The demand for network security specialists is so high in the current business world that it is possible to craft your own network security career in whatever field interests you the most. Network security freelancers are also finding plenty of work as consultants. Average Network Security Specialist Salaries The high demand for network security specialists has made it one of the most lucrative career opportunities in the United States. Beginning salaries can range from $50,000 to $70,000 for network security experts who have four or two year degrees. The median salary in the United States is $90,000 for a qualified network security expert. A highly experienced network security expert can expect to make as much as $150,000 annually. Your level of training, experience, skill, and customer service will largely determine how much money you make working as a network security specialist.
