Water is one of the role models that are needed to learn more about Tao. Passage 8 also relates with passage 78. Water is adaptive, gentle, and humble, yet it flows freely, erodes mountains, and creates humongous chasms. It rests gently as a lake or reservoir against a dam, but it will easily destroy that which confines it. One is taught to be fluid, relaxed, and humble. For lack of a less cheesy term, one is taught to "go with the flow" and to be humble and gentle, for there is a strength that comes with this humility, much like water.
