A negative is an exposed and developed piece of film where the image is not a true representation of the original. That is to say, in black and white, light and dark areas in the original scene are recorded opposite in the negative. When printed, the process reverses again, thereby producing a final image where the light and dark areas of the final print correspond to the original scene.
In color film, the processed film is still referred to as a negative even though it is not truly "opposite" or negative in the same sense. In this case, the colors in the negative are the complementary colors of the original scene. When printed and developed, these produce the colors that were in the scene, so in a sense, they are reverted again.
Color slide film (aka transparency film) reproduces the original scene on film, which is then projected on to a viewing screen.

photography produces 2 dimensional image. holography produces 3 dimensional image. Holography has high information capacity as compared to photography. Negative is prepared first in photography whereas in hologhaphy no negative is required.
In the world of photography, film development involves processing the exposed film in chemicals to create a negative image. The film is then scanned using a specialized machine to convert the negative image into a digital format for editing and printing.
Careful exposure and development of the negative. (Zone system)
Because the images can easily be changed from the original, and there is no negative to which they can be compared.

Yes it is because if we didn't have pictures we would basically still be telling stories by mouth.
Doquere . Did you mean Daguerre? Actually his 'one-shot' process was not conducive to trick photography. As soon as a negative/positive process had been developed, several people (it is not noted who first) realised that tricks could be used.
The paper negative process was attributed to William Henry Fox Talbot in 1839. Talbot developed this method as an early form of photography using paper coated with silver iodide to produce negative images.
