In real life what is a mage?

This was not answered properly. In a time long past when people did belive in magic in real life and walked on paths claiming to be diffrent types of casters. A mage was a solitary person always intrested in studying learning. Often alone this person would work more scientific on arts like potions and healing. Nature studies not as intensive as a druid did. He often was a charmer trying to charm people and animals to do his bidding. Tho he was not a evil person quite the contray mages were peaceful and above all else treasured knowledge. Kind of like a old word scientist but instead 0f more scientific fileds like say geology he would study more magical arts. Studied most anything really.This is more what they are mainly just alone casters that were most intrested in knowledge. Just note that this was many ages ago back when people belived that their were such things as mages and wizards. Today tho it is all listed as just fantasy and left for games, movies and stories. There is more details on them just this is basicly all that is really needed to be known to answer the question. Even in those days true mages were incredibly rare and blended in wouldn't even know it. If they often told people they were they were lying. anyway just note again this was hundreds of years ago when the people of then belived that there was a such thing as magic and casters
