The whole movie has to do with the interrogation. The police believe that because he was a slumdog that their was no way he could have known the answers, so they assumed he was cheating. During the movie, they watched the show, going one question at a time (the interrogation was right after he got off the show). After the first question, they paused the tape and asked him how he knew the answer. He would reply by telling them the story of how he knew. For example, the first question was who played in said movie. Remember when he told the story of when he was a young boy and Amitabh Bachan came in his helicopter when his brother locked him in the outhouse? He knew the answer because he had his autograph and was a big fan. Another was what was God Rama (the one painted blue they saw after their mother died) holding in his right hand? He knew because he saw Rama when he was young, and told the story. If you watch the movie again, you will notice this pattern throughout the whole movie, and it will make it easier to understand. Hope this helps!
Because it makes no logical sense that an uneducated kid from the slums would know the answers to the questions in the show. Jamal makes a living by providing tea to people in a call center, so has no education at all. This is the key point in the movie... he knows the answers because of his varied life experience.
