Ice cream is made in the US, but it was not invented there. There were many precursors to ice cream from the Persian empire, the Roman empire, and ancient China. Most of these involved snow mixed with fruit and other sweet ingredients. The first ice cream that was similar to modern ice cream came about in England in the early 18th century. It was almost identical to the hard ice cream you buy scoops of today. It wasn't until the 20th century that the softer, whipped form of ice cream was developed, again in England, by a team of chemists that included Margaret Thatcher, who went on to become Prime Minister.

In the northern states where the winters were cold enough for ice to accumulate, or for rivers and lakes to freeze, they would cut out blocks of ice and store them in underground storage that was insulated with thick layers of sawdust, or in specially built ice houses which were also insulted with sawdust. Then when they wanted ice in warm/hot weather, it was available to purchase. The ice cream was made by using hand turned ice cream makers, very similar to the electric ones we use today. Although the old fashioned hand-turned ones can still be purchased, they are actually considerably more expensive than the electric ones are.
At my last church, during the summer, some of us would make home made ice cream and have an ice cream social. I think it's just a nickname. We do like to gather and eat.
I would say I personally think Cold Stone Creamery's is the best ice cream shop in the United States. Their ice cream is fantastic by itself and there are many different flavors to choose from. You can have plain ice cream, customize your sundae with your choice of ingredients, or choose from one of their menu items. It's always fresh since they put together your order right in front of you. It is a chain-ice cream shop, so it doesn't have the same atmosphere as a "Mom and Pops" ice cream shop, but the ice cream still make you feel like a little kid at an amusement park.
Yes of course ice-cream makes us fat.The cream in ice-cream makes you fat because it's very thick like honey and we can get very fat if we eat ice-cream.
Vannilla is still and has always been America's #1 Ice cream
Vanilla is the most popular ice cream flavor in the U.S.
Modified milk ingredients can be any form of chemically modified milk sources to extract whey milk proteins, calcium, fat, casein and other milk components. The result is usually in the form of a powder or a paste. Modified milk ingredients is often used in mass-produced ice cream to replace actual cream. Modified milk ingredients come from New Zealand and Europe. It is a way for these countries to export milk products to Canada and the US without being hit by quotas and tariffs that strictly govern the import of milk products in North America. Since North American milk is price controlled by the government, using foreign modified milk ingredients reduces the cost of manufactured food products in Canada and the US that require milk. Using chemically modified milk ingredients in combination with gums, thickeners and emulsified oils is also the only way of producing 0% fat ice cream and cheese. In Canada, companies making ice cream made of modified milk ingredients can no longer label their products as "ice cream", having to resort to the appellation "Frozen Dessert".
