Just compare the densities of both water and CH2Cl2. Water is less dense and will be in the top (aqueous) layer. CH2Cl2 is more dense and will be on the bottom (organic) layer.

Density H2O = 1.00 g/cm3

Density CH2Cl2 = 1.33 g/cm3

Dichloromethane (methylene chloride) has a higher density than water. It will settle to the bottom of a dichloromethane:water mixture. Is this what you are asking?

Why calcium chloride added in sodium chloride to lower the melting point?

The heat of dissolution for calcium chloride in water is greater compared with the same paremeter for sodium chloride; consequently the process of dissolution need more heat from the environment and the freezing point of the water solution is lower.

How can salt be changed?

Normally the salt (sodium chloride) in a salt-water pool does not need changing. it does however need to be toped up once in a while to maintain the correct salt level for the chlorinator. However if the saltwater system is being changed to a Magnesium & potassium chloride system some water may have to be sacrificed to lower the sodium chloride level. it would be best to seek advice from chlorinator manufacturers on the technicalities in this case.

Why is water lower than the melting point of sodium chloride?

Sodium chloride is a ionic compound. Generally they have high melting points.

Why calcium chloride is added with sodium chloride in metallurgy of sodium?

Because the mixture NaCl + CaCl2 has a lower melting point that NaCl.

Can you use sodium chloride to lower pH level in pools?

I have never heard of it being used for that purpose and cant find any reference to it being used for that purpose. any acid would lower Ph however that does not mean that it wont have undesirable side effects.
