In the food chain what is a producer?

a producer is something that makes it's own food so like a plant. The whole food chain relies on the producer, without it, the food web will be broken.

Eg.** Carrot->Rabbit->dogs (this is an example)

if the food producer(carrot)extincts, the rabbit would be affected, and when there's no rabbit, the dogs will die.

there's 2 things that are must knows about food producer.

1. Only plants are food producer, and they:

*cannot hunt

*can make their own food

*They don't eat other organisms, other organisms eat them

2.All animals in the community depends on the food producer, it's just that some depends on them directly while some others depend on them indirectly.
