A centrifugal electric blower is installed in the lower portion of the piano cabinet. Attached to the player action, it creates the same vacuum to operate the player that you do when you pump the pedals with your feet. The blowers installed by Rechel Piano Company, incorporate a volume control, a rewind speed reduction, and a one way valve to allow the piano to still be pumped by foot. Pumping it by foot was the original way to power a player piano.
We have a musette player piano and it works as a regular piano. If you want to use the player portion, on ours you open the back panel behind the pedals, pull down the foot pumps and pedal away.

I think that the price is going to depend on a year it was manufactured, and whether you are trying to trade it in or sell to a reseller (like a piano store), or a private buyer. I would search eBay for similar listings. Currently, one is selling for about 6000$ on eBay, made in late 90s.
