Before the war, Jefferson Davis had land in Mississippi. Beauvoir was the home of Jefferson Davis after the war. It is located right on the Mississippi coast in Bilouxi, MS. After his death, his widow continued to live there and was struggling to keep it up. People pressured her to sale it. She wanted to keep it for us by Veterans. So the Confederate Veterans began to use the site as a hospital for veterans. Then as they died, some were buried on the grounds. The home was passed to the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. Sometime after 2000, a new Museum was built there. It was totally destroyed by the hurricane. The home weather many storms that blew in from the coast but the house was damaged by this hurricane. Attempts are being made to restore it.
