EMT's and Paramedics perform prehospital care. While the Paramedics have advanced knowledge and can perform advanced skills, the EMT's really do the grunt work. EMT's and Paramedics working together can save a life in the prehospital setting.

They can work from both. Some hospitals have begun hiring paramedics to work in hospitals due to nursing shortages. Also, most fire-houses have at least one paramedic per rig.
an outfit ! Red cross is divided into two:The humanitarians and the ones that work as paramedics. the humanitarian wear blue overalls while the othersthat work as paramedics wear orange overalls.
This varies. If you are an EMT basic, Intermediate or Paramedic working for a private ambulance company, you could work 8, 12 or 24 hour shifts. Typically Paramedics who work with a company that stages their ambulances (places ambulances in strategic locations within their jurisdiction) work 12 hour shifts and usually four days a week. Firefighters who are EMT's or Paramedics can work 3 days on, 3 days off and one day on call. It just depends on where you work and who you work for.

summer job
It really depends on exactly where you work as a paramedic. I know that in the small Newfoundland town I live in Paramedics make 12$ a hour. But in bigger places such as Ontario paramedics may make $70,000+ per year. But I'm sure a paramedic is a very rewarding, exciting career. If I was more courageous and interested in this exciting field I would go for it. Afterall you can make good money with it, and it is not all about money.
This could depend very much on where they work and the facilities they have available.
