A type of autotroph found near the bottom of an energy pyramid would be phytoplankton. Phytoplankton are microscopic, photosynthetic organisms that form the base of many aquatic food chains by converting sunlight into energy through photosynthesis. They are an important source of food for many marine animals.
Autotrophs are plants that photosynthesize so any animal would not be an autotroph.
Another name for an autotroph would be a producer. The only other name for an autotroph that we know of is "Autophyte".
Autotroph
A koala bear is not a plant, so it can't be an autotroph. Koalas consume autotrophs, so they are heterotrophs.
Biology is not really my area of expertise, so better answers may well follow. Cells perform a myriad of functions, photosynthetic cells are all about using light to create energy and therefore would be no use in the dark. Why would tree roots, for example, need photosynthetic cells?

They are in photosynthetic cells. They are in eukariyotes.
For a autotroph that can survive with little nutrients other than carbon, or a heterotroph, which needs a food supply and will die without one.
