Many believed that the US shoul provide active military support to the French, but others advocated allowing the Europeans to settle their own problems.
In 1750 there was no "US" and most of the French were either in Canada or in the New Orleans area of the Gulf. At the time there had not been a Louisiana purchase and the area was owned by France.
There has never been any French colonies in the US. There were large areas of North America which were French colonies which became a part of the US.

Because the English colonized the Central part of North America (US) and the French colonized the Northern part of North America (Canada). Also it is worth noting that the Spanish colonized the Southern part of North America (Mexico).
The Adams-Onís Treaty of 1819, between The US and Spain, gave the US the state now known as Florida in order to settle border disputes.
