That entirely depends on the opera house plus other factors other than the actual performance. For example, most opera houses have bars and restaurants - so opening and closing would depend on these, which might be used even when an opera is not scheduled.

Singers vary from the world class who would not be on a static wage as they are not 'employed' by a particular house full time, but for performances.
