∙ 14y agoAll of the atmosphere has ozone when there is ultraviolet radiation from sunlight present. The ozone quickly disappears when there is no sunlight as the ionized oxygen (O3) returns to its normal state (O2). The term ozone layer is actually misleading. There is no defined layer that is composed of ozone. Ozone is oxygen. The oxygen molecules at higher altitudes become charged in higher concentrations than at lower altitudes. This being called a layer is an over simplification.
