General Election
a representative democracy
Athenian democracy was effected by the citizens (males 18 and over) meeting each fortnight in assembly and making decisions which the Council implemented between meetings. Australian democracy is representative democracy, where the citizens (males and females 18 and over) elect representatives to a parliament for three years. These representatives (members of parliament) do what they feel like, not necessarily according to what they promised when they were seeking election.
Bytheir fellow citizens after having been authorised by them to do so for a predetermined period of time in an an election
Provided the leaders are elected in free and open election in which all the adult citizens of a country can participate, the government is a Democracy. However where there is no universal election of leaders by ALL the people (eg China) the government is a Dictatorship. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The form of government in which "the power belongs to the people" is called a Democracy. It is a political form of government carried out either directly by the people (direct democracy) or by means of elected representatives of the people, as if the people and the elected person were one.
Israel's national government is a parliamentary democracy, with representatives selected by general election.
People who are citizens have a responsibility to vote in elections, to choose representatives in their governments.
NO, they can vote them out at the next election.
The Constitution created a representative democracy based on the principle of republicanism. Citizens are able to vote for their representatives, with candidates who receive the most votes winning election.
By elections.
All male citizens could vote in the assembly which was held every couple of weeks. At this assembly all laws were presented to be passed. This is different from an indirect or representative democracy where citizens elect representatives who do the lawmaking. Citizens were also eligible for all public offices (most of which were chosen by lot). They also served on juries which were the sole judges in lawsuits. They were also liable for military service when called up.
Representative democracy. A republic does not require elected representatives. A democracy can be direct voting by each citizen. So to accurately represent both election and representation, we use representative democracy
