ALLAMA IQBAL(I877-1938):-Allama Iqbal was a great poet and a philosopher who apart from M.A.Jinnah,was responsible for the state of Pakistan.His poetry became a way of putting forward his religious and political ideas.In 1910,Iqbal thought that Muslim world should be united.He called for reform and said that to be a good Muslim was not just to sit thinking and meditating about religion,but to be active and do something positive about it.He joined the Muslim league in 1927.As chairman of the annual meeting at Allahabad in 1930,he put forward his dream of Independent and liberal Islamic state comprising the N.W.F.P,Punjab,Sindh and Balochistan when the British left the subcontinent.His dream of a Muslim state became a reality after 17 years when Pakistan came into being on 14 August 1947.
