A couple of reasons come to mind for this revolutionary practice: 1) There is furniture on the floor 2) The upper part of the room is where the warmest air is 3) The lower part of the room is where the people are 4) Air conditioning is for the people
== == A "stalactite" also known as dripstone, is like a stone icicle on the ceiling of a limestone cave. It develops when water, in which minerals (usually primarily calcium carbonate) is dissolved, drips though cracks in cave ceiling. As the water falls, it leaves behind microscopic amounts of the mineral. Over time, this collects to form an icicle-like structure. Note that a "stalagmite" is like an upside-down stalactite growing up from the floor. When water drips from a stalactite and hits the cave floor, there is often a microscopic mineral deposit left there as well. This deposit builds up over time. It is possible, by the way, for a stalactite and stalagmite to meet, forming a mineral column.
Most stalactites are limestone. Water, often rainwater, seeps through material which causes it to absorb carbon dioxide, as it seeps further it dissolves limestone. Then when it reaches the ceiling of a cave it slowly begins to forms droplets. As these dry they deposit the limestone on the ceiling. This happens again and again, one drop at a time, and very slowly over years this deposit grows forming a stalactite.
A halo indicates cirrus clouds are moving overhead, and cirrus clouds often precede the warm sector of a winter storm, which is where steady precipitation occurs. With that said, it is no guarantee that it will happen, and precipitation may be in the form of ice or rain as well.
it's a sign of welcome and warm hearth in the home. often left in a window when a loved one is away from home. it's popular in the winter, particularly around christmas, as it's cold in the winter, and the warmth from the candle represents the warmth and love of a home, and thus the people in it.
There are lots of reasons this may be true. I suspect the biggest reason is that somewhere on that floor is the heating and cooling equipment, water heating, etc. and the ceiling height is necessary for that equipment. If this is true then you also have the bulk of your ducts, water pipes, etc. in the ceiling of the ground floor and these are often run between an artificial drop ceiling and the actual structural ceiling.
A false ceiling is a ceiling which is lower than the real ceiling attached to the joists. False ceilings are often used in kitchens and on the first floors of houses with different tenants living on the second floor.
Often the floor or wall tiles. The walls and ceiling, the windows, mirrors, cupboard doors . . .
Newly constructed homes are often built without ceiling lights in some rooms or with limited ceiling lights. A modern floor lamp can be a necessity for an otherwise dark room in this type of home.
A flush beam is a beam that is flush the the surrounding floor or ceiling joists. Often held in place with metal connectors. It could be a steel 'I' beam, lvl, built up wood. It is used when ceiling height is needed to be maintained.
4 years. He stopped and started on it and often redid what he all ready had done. It was 70 feet from floor to ceiling and he had to erect scaffolding to reach the ceiling and laid on his back painting. I have seen the ceiling 3 times and since it was cleaned the figures look like they are moving. The Vatican has a web site for the ceiling so go there to see it.
Traditional ceiling fans often served as a lamp as well as a ceiling fan. Modern ceiling fans often focus on their function as a fan and are smaller in size.
In construction, a joist is a horizontal piece that runs from wall to wall, wall to beam or beam to beam. A joist is essentially considered to be one of the most supporting pieces towards the structural aspect. It focuses in on supporting beams and other pieces in the floor, ceiling and roof.
Simply because - the 'reservoir' for the well water is often deep underground. The deeper you go into the earth, the hotter it gets.
Cob is an ancient European masonry heater - often weighing tons. Hotter than a cob means the same as hotter than a heater.
You can do this easily if you buy ceiling speakers. These are often ceiling or wall speakers. You should take care to avoid electrical wiring while installing.
For regular retail pricing on ceiling fans, and basically everything for that matter, Home Depot does price match and often beat it by 10%. There are restrictions, for example they will not match a price of a floor-model/out of box or a special one-time sale at a different retailer.
