The founder of the Jamestown colony was the Virginia Company of London. It was named for James I of England.
I think the founder is John smith. Wrong, the founder was the Virginia Company, they it was a joint stock corporation that founded trips to the New world for profit, mainly to Virginia even more specifically Jamestown. Where John Smith was a captain and helped to save the colony most famously for his way of providing food, "If you don't work, you don't eat." (another side fact it was not John Smith that married Pocahontas as the Disney movie "Pocahontas" state but in fact John Rolfe)
John Smith did not discover Virginia.
