Information about the health hazards of a material will be found on its safety data sheet. They are intended to provide workers and emergency personnel with procedures for handling or working with that substance in a safe manner.
Health hazard information for materials and chemicals are listed on information sheets called Material Safety Data Sheets or MSDS.
These sheets are often included in shipping and packaging materials. If not they can be obtained from the manufacturer or distributor and are generally available on the web.
These are designed for occupational use and not generally provided to the general public consumer. OSHA (The Occupantional Safety and Health Administration) has regulations which require certain workplaces to make these available (generally kept in a binder) to employees who must use these materials.
The Material Safety Data Sheet, or MSDS sheet, has information on a material's health risks. It also gives data on environmental hazards.
