Information that backs up the main idea?
A main idea is supported by descriptive paragraphs in the body of a document. The main idea of a paragraph is supported by descriptive sentences within the paragraph.
The main idea is probably revenge, although the offense is not specified in the story. That is the general idea of why Montresor kills Fortunato. The whole creepiness of the story lies in the idea that revenge is okay, and the narrator is okay with being a murderer, and feels that bricking the guy up in the wall is the way to be.
To make a good summary you must focus on the main ideas and do the following parts: 1.Write an opening sentence that includes the key information (Try not to be too specific) 2.Gather "Key Information" , the important / main ideas. 3.Write a sentence describing each idea. 4.Write down a summary sentence that sums everything up (To gather up all the information and state it in a different way than step 1.)
