endoskeleton
We sometimes use the term endoskeleton, but it isn't usually used unless we are talking about organisms that may or may not have one. We never use the term in the study of humans and other vertebrates. The other term is exoskeleton, and it is used for organisms that have one on the outside of the body.
A frog is an amphibian, and all amphibians are vertebrates. They have a backbone and an internal skeleton. The correct term for an animal which is not a vertebrate is invertebrate.
The piranha is a fish, and all fish are vertebrates. Vertebrates are creatures which have a backbone and an internal skeleton. The term for animals which are not vertebrates is invertebrate.
An inside skeleton is called an "endoskeleton" in contrast to the term "exoskeleton" which is used to describe a "skeleton" that is on the outside.
The medical term for the outside of the skeleton is "periosteum". It is a dense layer of connective tissue that covers and protects bones.
