Interpass temperature is the maximum temperature a weldment should be allowed to reach between weld passes. If a pass is completed and the temperature is in excess of the interpass, it should be allowed to cool before continuing.

What is difference between preheat and interpass temperature in welding?

The prehaet temperature is taken before welding starts. The interpass temperature is taken between welding passes.

What is mean by preheat temperature in welding?

Some materials have to be heated before you start to weld on them. They will probably have a maximum interpass temperature, and may also need to be kept heated to a specific temperature for a certain amount of time after you stop welding (called post heat).

What interpass temperature for carbon steel?

150 degree. When I was involved with submarine construction the metal was preheated 150 F to 200 F depending on the thickness. Interpass temp was 300 F max.

Welding procedure specification?

A welding procedure specification is a detailed document that outlines the specific procedures and parameters to be followed for welding a particular material and joint configuration. It includes information on welding processes, filler metals, preheat and interpass temperatures, welding techniques, and inspection requirements. It serves as a guideline to ensure consistent and high-quality welding results.
