Check and make sure you don't have the "Auto" option selected on your Heating and Air conditioning control panel. This feature lets the car "automatically" turn on or off to adjust the temperature in the cabin to the temperature set on the display. To turn it off, just press the "Off" button.
The heater coil is leaking. Water from the cooling system runs through the heater coil to heat the passenger compartment. Antifreeze is corrosive, some heater coils are thin.
If the heater fan works on all speeds, then the blower motor, blower fuse, blower relay, and blower motor resistor pack are all good. If the fan runs but nothing comes out of the vents, you have a 'mode door' issue (which might include a bad control head).
Pull the blower motor out and check both the motor, the blower wheel and the housing for any trash that may be stuck in it................
You will need to remove the water supply hoses from your 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue heater core. Remove the heater core retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new heater core.
Well i heard plenty of reasons but the one that actually worked for my olds intrigue 98' was replacing the blower motor resistor which cost about 20 bucks or so.....hope this helps
