IQN stands for Internationally Qualified Nurse.

The Nursing Council of New Zealand is the regulatory authority responsible for registering nurses in Aotearoa New Zealand. Internationally qualified nurses must meet the Council's requirements before they can become registered and practise as nurses in New Zealand.

For some applicants, the Council requires an assessment of competence.

The first part of that assessment is the IQN theoretical examination.

According to the Nursing Council, this is an online multiple-choice examination that tests nursing knowledge at the level expected of a New Zealand-registered nurse or enrolled nurse. It can be taken through Pearson VUE at designated testing centres overseas or in New Zealand.
