No it is not. It is clearly a reference to both Alice and Wonderland, with the idea of following the White Rabbit, and to the Matrix, which uses the same theme. The point of the reference in this quest narrative, is that people are always looking for something external to themselves, when what they should be doing is enjoying the experiences they are actually having.
Well this is not completely correct there is a 90's band called Fluffy and could be the band the book is referring to.
