That is really the only drawback to this type of grass. I guess I could have simplified my answer just by saying fertilize in spring and water the grass as needed :-). I have centipede grass currently and live in the southern climes and have been tempted to switch to Bermuda grass just for the simple fact that it is easier to care for.
