Is 130 over 77 a good blood pressure for a 43 year old male?

For resting values, the systolic value of 130 is marginally high. Losing a little body weight often does wonders for blood pressure. The systolic reading falls into the pre-hypertensive range, but can sometimes be elevated when visiting the doctor. The best reading is one obtained over a series of readings, or on your own machine if correctly calibrated. The diastolic reading of 77 is within normal limits. The "visiting the doctor" elevation is sometimes called "White-coat syndrome".

A single blood pressure without any other diagnostic information is hard to evaluate. In general a blood pressure of 120 over 80 or lower is considered good for an average adult. Obviously, a persons medical history, other vital signs and overall health can change the target numbers, but generally this is a good blood pressure.

yes it is. current guidelines recommends that adult blood pressures be below 120/80 to be considered as normal. 130/60 is still satisfactory and needs only regular monitoring and lifestyle modifications. the elderly however tends to have a much lower diastolic pressure sometimes even reaching 30mmHg due to age related arteriosclerosis.

its borderline... but a Dr would most likely probably not medicate. if you had a cardiologist and a precondition you might get an increase in BP med strength or direction.
