It is impossible to tell by rate of the heartbeat. Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is speaking old wives tales. The above answerer said that you can tell for sure by an ultrasound. You cannot. Sometimes the baby keeps its legs together or is at a difficult angle and you sonographer can't see, and sometimes it is just impossible to tell.
Fetus sex can be determined by ultrasound only after the genitals have somewhat formed. It is not possible to determine the fetus's sex judging by HR. Although women have a higher HR than men, extrapolation to fetus is not possible keeping in mind things go a lot different when you breathe amniotic fluid instead of air.
Generally the higher the heartbeat - it would be the heartbeat of a female child, but that is a bit of a fast heart rate. Be sure to talk to your MD and be sure this is okay with them! Good luck...sending happy baby wishes your way! :)
gender cannot be determined by heart rate, that is an old wives tale. As they say anything over 140 is a girl and anything under is a boy. I have a 7 year old son, and his heart rate got up to 168 I am now 27 weeks, with another boy and his heartrate has been over 140 as well.
I am pregnant with baby #3 and I have a 4 1/2 yr old daughter and 3 yr old son. With my daughter her heartrate never dropped below 155,with my son he never rose above 150. The general old wives tale is under 150 boy, over 150 girl. Baby #3 heartbeat is 143, and I'm almost certain its a boy with my mommy feeling! Good luck and remember its an old wives tale ( tho my kids followed it perfectly)!
Normal heartbeat of the baby is 140 to 160 per minute. Heartbeat that fast can be caused by increased temperature, pain or that baby was crying when you get it.
Both, heart rates don't depend on gender
girl
Boy

More blood is pumped around the body because the heart beats more. When the heart beats more the that makes the blood move around the body faster :)
A persons heart beats at least 500 times per minute.
As you exercise, the muscles need more oxygen to work. The heart beats faster to get the oxygenated blood from the lungs to the muscles. The harder you exercise, the more oxygen the muscles need, the faster the heart beats.
The heart beats too slow (less than 60bpm). The heart beats too fast (more than 100bpm). The heart rhythm is not regular.
a clam heart beats about 1 time every 8 secs (so like 7 or 8 beats per minute). a human heart beats 1 (or more) time(s) per second (or 60 beats per minute).

Tachycardia is an excessive heart rate, more than 100 beats/minute.
