Is 190 beats per minute too high for a 47 year old male during exercise?
See website info at http://www.nemahealth.org/programs/healthcare/heart_rate_pulse.htm Normal max is calculated as (220-your age) or (220-47)=173 If starting excercise the recommended max pules rate is (220-your age) x 0.8= 173 x.8=138.4
If you are not exercising 100 beats per minute is very high. Anything over 100 beats per minute for an adult is considered high by medical professionals and by definition is known as tachycardia. If you are exercising, 130 is normal and your heart can beat much faster than that in particularly strenuous exercise.
Hummingbirds have the ability to slow their bodily functions and go into a kind of trance or torpor. Their heartbeat during the day can be as high as 1,260 beats per minute and can slow at night to only 50 beats per minute. There are periods when a torpid does not breathe is stiff and numb and seems dead. They may remain in this position overnight and most of the day.
