First of all that's not always true, but when it is it has a lot to do with growing time. If you have one kid born in January one year, and one kid born in December the same year, then the January kid will have had almost a year more time to grow in. Yet the're of the same age and in the same class. If you have different ages in the same class it gets even more obvious.
