Although many drugs are okay after their expiration dates, as noted by Harvard Health and the FDA's shelf-life program, many lose some efficacy, and it depends on how they are stored. Prozac is a drug that you shouldn't jump into or out of, so if you haven't been taking it, the safest thing to do is to see a doctor and get a new prescription. If you do that, you could talk to your doctor about supplementing the new supply with the old, and your doctor (or a pharmacist) might be able to give you better advice about this drug specifically.
