I wouldn't think it is too old to start breeding your poodle but you must make sure that she is given the all clear from your Veterinarian and that you follow your Vets advice about breeding her. I have 3 poodles myself but mine are pet only. Also make sure she is comfortable with whom she is breeding with, introduce the dogs first and see if they take to each other. Also read up on everything you can about breeding your dog, birthing of the puppies and have everything you will need to hand and your Vet will prove invaluable in this area. Hope this helps.

erm i would probably say that you could start breeding from 1 to 5 so yeah i guess so

and your poodle is quite old so make it comfortable with who she is breeding with

How big does a French poodle get?

There are three main size varieties of Poodle- Standard- quite a large, medium sized dog, Miniature, and Toy. all three are considered by the AKC ( American Kennel Club) to be ONE breed. This is part of the reasons that the Poodles were on top of the dog charts ( based on breed registrations) for over 20 Years and this is with accurate auditing. They used to be published in the World Almanac. I mean for over 20 years the Poodles were #l so they must qualify as the world"s most popular breed of dog. I have described the three main sizes.

How do you make miniature version of a large breed dog?

To make a miniature version of a large breed dog will take years to do. You just breed the runt of the litter with another runt of the litter and continue to do so with other runts. And even then it may not work.

What is the breeding age for a male toy poodle?

The age will vari between the sizes. Toy poodle males usually become fertile between 6-9 months of age. But usually not sexually active until between 9 months and 12 months of age. Miniature poodle males become fertile between 6-9 months of age. Rarely are they fertile at 5 months but it can happen. They are usually sexually active at 6 months. The same rules apply for Standard Poodles as for the Miniature poodles

How long is a miniature poodle expected to live?

12 to 14 years is the expected life span of a miniature poodle. I know that there are exceptions to every rule, but I have a miniature poodle (22 pounds) that is 17 years old and still getting on quite well. He has a little arthritis in his hips, can't see too well due to cataracts and his hearing has diminished, but the little guy still loves to ride on the golf cart, bark at the ducks and has a great appetite. Also still very affectionate. His favorite meal? A Sonic Junior Deluxe Burger, which he has 3 times a week. Hey, at his age, what the heck. I highly recommend a poodle for most considering a dog. There is a stigma out there that poodles are little yappers that old ladies carry around. NOT SO. I have had two of them, and they are what you make them. Mine are quite macho little guys that catch Frisbees, love to run, great watchdogs, great travelers, extremely smart and easy to train. If they have a fault, it might be their initial attitude toward small children. Mine have been slow to accept them and a little nervous around them. Given time to get to know them, they love them and even get protective of them.

Does Paris have poodles and poodle skirts?

the Poodle is, hands down, the most popular breed of dog in the United States ( historically, based on breed registrations) and maybe the world. Certainly it is not without honor in its native country- France. There are three size varieties of Poodle, but by AKC standards all counted as one breed. The Poodle was on top of the AKC dog charts ( published in the World Almanac annually) for well over 20 years and usually Shepherds ( German) came in second. Times of changed, but the poodle remains a highly popular dog.
