This is not so much a scam as a business very adept at removing old folks life savings whilst remaining just within the law. My father lost in excess of £30,000 to these people before I discovered what was going on but the continuing loss to elderly UK citizens is terrifying. So far my research has found the 'European Lottery Guild' to be behind 'AILA' and other such businesses. Although appearing to have UK addresses their actual postal address is: Postbus 74101, 1070 BC Amsterdam, The Netherlands but 'AILA' money seems to eventually go to Australian International Lottery Agency, PO Box 3200, Vancouver BC VB6 3X6, Canada. Yes, I am dealing with both Police and Trading Standards but it may be a while before these rogues are stopped.
I won twice, $ 1,250.00 aprox each year ... Mauricio

AILA is a legal agency, but there are many complaints about their promotion tactics, leading some people to lose considerable sums of money. The legality of selling tickets internationally varies from country to country and it is advisable to deal only with the lotteries themselves, not middlemen. Most companies that advertise lotteries through the mail are phony. If you receive an offer to enter, or a letter that says you have won a prize, it is almost certainly a scam.
