no they are different thing...the ar-15 is not a carbine and is mostly used by law enforcement as the m4 is a carbine used by the military...they look very similar and have a set of things about them that make them hard to tell the difference between them..they also have mostly the same functions and stats as well as rpm, (rounds per minute) power, distance rating, and caliber of bullet...does that help?
