I have been in the interactive media biz for over 10 years now, and most of my clients, and colleagues choose Quantcast over Alexa for unique monthly numbers... Even though both services are third party, and don't really give the most accurate data. Quntcast seems to be the closest to what my in house reporting provides...

Historically, Alexa has probably been the most accurate. However, Google uses embedded trackers on many websites as well and extensive tracing on web searches, so at the cost of privacy, Google Analytics is definitely gaining ground.Alexa does look at search engines other than Google, though, so it's my opinion that although Google has highly accurate statistics where they have trackers, Alexa offers better results over-all, with their view of many search engines. They do not heavily rely on local trackers, so I tend to trust them more.
