The long answer is, the concept of a 'missing link' is a fallacy to begin with. No matter how many fossils you find, there is always going to need to be another link needed. Ardipithecus is argued to be on the human line (called hominins), soon after humans split from chimps (about 6-7 million years ago). At the moment scientists disagree whether it is actually a fossil hominin or a fossil non-human ape.
