In the episode "The Furies," Xena claims that Ares is her father in order to evade the curse placed upon her by the Furies. However, if you watch the interviews with the writers of that episode, as well as the director, they state that the subject was intentionally left vague and uncertain but that they don't believe Ares to be her father. They say that Xena is more of a hero as a mortal, rather than as a half-god. You can take it whichever way you like it, but we're meant to think that Xena was probably lying.
