The Australian Continent is a large ancient craton, and has been stable against tectonic plate forces since Gondwana times - some 200 million years ago.

These cratons are stable platforms that seem to survive super-continent formation and break-up. It has no significant adjacent subduction zones, so is unlikely to submerge.
